Transition at Marden High

Starting secondary school offers many exciting opportunities for children and their families. At Marden High School, we are committed to ensuring that our new students feel comfortable and happy about such a big change in their lives. The smooth transition that we offer for our new intake is achieved through positive, frequent communication between students, staff, parents/carers and governors.

We aim for a transition process that:

  • Promotes the smooth transition of children throughout their five years at Marden High School and beyond

  • Prevents and alleviates stress for students and their families

  • Ensures continuity of teaching and learning

Throughout Year 6 your child will become familiar with the staff and surroundings of Marden High School. Events that they are involved in will include taster lessons and activities with Marden High School staff in our new building, and visits from the transition team to their primary school.

Every child planning to attend Marden High School will have met Miss Laing (Head of Transition) and/or Mrs Atkinson (Transition Mentor) before starting the following September, and we work closely with Year 6 staff to ensure a smooth transition both pastorally and academically for all of our students.

If you have any questions or would like to visit for a tour during the school day, please do not hesitate to contact Miss Laing at e.laing@mardenhigh.net or by phone.
