YEAR 7: Marden High 3-4 Marden Bridge
YEAR 8: Marden High 4-2 Marden Bridge
There was another football double header last night as Marden Bridge Middle School brought both a Year 7 and Year 8 team to Hartington Road for two simultaneous matches as the night drew in.
For the Year 7s, it was a heartbreaking 4-3 defeat, despite taking the lead through a Josh Harrison goal after a superb solo run. They were soon 3-1 down, but Owen Kennedy reduced the arrears with his second of the season before Reece Maddison squared things up in the second half with a tidy finish from the edge of the box. Marden Bridge counter attacked well though, and managed to force a late winner over the line.
It was better news for the Year 8s, who shrugged off last week’s A team defeat to St. Thomas More with a 4-2 victory, helped by a few of the successful B team footballers stepping up to the plate. Jack Graham and Tom Moore got the goals in an enterprising 4-2 victory.
Other than floodlit away games, it looks like that’s the football season temporarily on hold until next term. Well done to all who turned out and took part.
