At Marden High we encourage curiosity and develop transferable skills for lifelong learning. One of the ways in which we do this is through a committed extra-curricular programme.

Drop down days planned at key points over the Year focus on specific year groups. In the past these have been a wellbeing day – focusing on trying something different;  a ‘Represent’ roadshow with an emphasis on how you can represent yourself in a number of different contexts and and a day entitled ‘Respect and Agency.’ These days are an excellent opportunity to work within a different context on a specific focus. They are also a great opportunity to engage with guest speakers and organisations.

Marden High School offers a wealth of extra-curricular activities both at lunchtime and before and after school. The LRC is a real hub, where students can study after school with support from Special Support Teaching Assistants. The ‘homework hub’ runs every afternoon from 3.15pm where students can complete homework or independent tasks.

A range of sporting activities are on offer, including Netball, Football, Rugby and Badminton. Our thriving Performing Arts base runs a variety of clubs including Super Singers, Orchestra, Ukulele and Choir and a large production, each year, such as ‘Bugsy Malone’ (2018), ‘Grease’ (2019), ‘We Will Rock You’ (2020), Sister Act (2022) and ‘Matilda’ (2023).

Students have the opportunity to take part in creative writing, debating, enterprise clubs and can become members of the School Cabinet and Council, in addition to a wide variety of activities.
