The Year 8 footballers took another strive towards the play-offs with their third win on the bounce, this one an impressive 6-3 dismantling of Wellfield in cold and windy conditions at Marden High on Wednesday evening.

Wellfield line up a free kick
Josh Harrison knocked home the first goal after Cameron Balloch’s looping long range shot came back off the crossbar. Harrison then made it 2-0 with a fine solo goal, picking up Connor Brown’s pass on the halfway line before darting down the left wing and slotting home from a tight angle.
Owen Kennedy fired a long range shot into the net to make it 3-0 before half time, and Marden kept up the pressure in the second half, despite shooting uphill and into the wind.
Connor Brown slotted home a fourth before Owen Kennedy fired home an excellent first time shot into the top corner for 5-0. Josh Harrison completed his hat-trick from close range before Marden dropped off and allowed the away side in to score three late goals, one a well taken free kick.
It was a superb performance all round, particularly defensively, with Marden first to every ball and defending resolutely – Owen Foster a safe pair of hands in goal, and Harvey Gates and Reece Maddison breaking up attacks at the back.
Another win in their final game of the season might just be enough to take them through to the play-off semi finals. Well done lads!
