Mr Topping
As Head of Year 7, my primary role is to support students during their transition from primary to secondary school. Starting secondary school offers many exciting opportunities for children and their families. At Marden High School, we are committed to ensuring that our new students feel comfortable and happy about such a big change in their lives. The smooth transition that we offer for our new intake is achieved through positive, frequent communication between myself, students, our staff, primary schools, parents/carers and governors. Mrs Atkinson supports Year 7 in her role as Learning mentor.

Mrs Atkinson
In Year 7 you will study a range of different subjects. Some of these will build on your primary education skills and knowledge (such as English and Maths), and others may be new to you (such as Technology, STEM, French, Drama). In addition to learning and developing academically, you will also have the opportunity to access a wide array of extracurricular activities, ranging from sports to science or media to gardening. These areas of secondary school life will help you make new friends and grow socially, as well as gaining some independence and developing how to manage your time between independent study and extracurricular activities.
Where can you find me?
I am often on duty during break and lunchtimes so come and see me for a chat. You can also find me in the Science department, or my office, which I share with Mrs Atkinson (learning mentor for Year 7) next to the West yard.
