Miss Laing

My role as Head of Year 9 is to encourage, guide and support pupils’ wellbeing and academic achievement at school, ensuring students achieve to the best of their ability, in addition to developing and growing as a person. This is achieved by monitoring behaviour, progress, attendance and pastoral intervention, which can take many forms and be tailored for the individual.

Year 8 was an important year for developing good routines and solid habits, making sure that these are consistently embedded in every school day.  These are crucial now that we are starting to think carefully about further choices and GCSE courses which are just around the corner.

In year 9 we will continue to build on all of the above and ensure that students are developing independence in the way they approach their work in school. We will continue to develop social skills and promote an increasing level of autonomy. Regular check-ins with the year 9 pastoral team will be key in helping this.
