Mr Swain

My role as head of year is to monitor behaviour, attendance and academic achievement and help students achieve their maximum potential whilst also providing pastoral support. This is often through communications with parents and carers, teachers and curriculum leaders and daily conversations with students in the year group.

Year 11 is a very important year as the students are sitting their mock exams in November/December and their GCSE examinations in May and June so an essential part of the role is to ensure a smooth transition from year 10 to best facilitate this.

I will also be offering support and guidance with study skills and revision. Independent study skills, attending revision lessons and revision at home are integral to students to achieve maximum success.

Another important aspect in year 11 is students deciding their next step after Marden High School. Students will have the opportunity to meet with connections and have assemblies from potential colleges and sixth form centres. Students will be given support and guidance on the application and interview processes.
