Dear Parent/Carer
Thank you for your speedy responses to our communications this morning. I am sure you will appreciate the narrow window we had to get a message out. We have had quite severe flooding this morning and I have to say the staff have been fantastic in stemming the tide. However the flooding continues and a roofing team has now been out to assess the damage.
Unfortunately the situation is even worse than I had previously thought. We have been advised that carrying out repairs to the existing roof covering is not possible, and that it will need to be replaced. This is as you can imagine a big job and so it is certain that the flooding will continue. Many areas of the school have had to be shut down, and due to the dangers of water ingress, electricity has also had to be shut down. In order to give everybody a degree of certainty and the opportunity to plan ahead, I am letting you know that the school will be shut at least until the weekend and that remote learning will continue. Teaching staff will be available to the children during their timetabled lessons via email and the stream facility on Google Classroom. All the remote learning information is on the school website, on the remote learning button.
I have emergency meetings with officers from the Local Authority this afternoon to continue planning and I will be in touch as soon as I can be to let you know how we move forward. I appreciate that this situation is far from ideal, but, as we have before, we will come through this together as a strong community.
Best wishes
Mr M Snape
