A group of Year 9s today took part in the Youth Council debate at North Tyneside Council offices, as part of Local Democracy Week. After listening to a debate about local transport from two other schools. they then took part in a debate with Burnside College about lowering the voting age to 16, with Marden High in favour!
After opening remarks, the floor was open to debate, and at the end of the afternoon, a vote was cast which led to Marden being crowned the most convincing debating team, taking home the shield!
Well done to all who took part!
