CONGRATULATIONS to this year’s House Winners, for the first time ever!
Here at Marden, you will recognise those in Dunstanburgh house by the GREEN ties and GREEN badges.
Dunstanburgh Castle is a 14th-century fortification on the coast of Northumberland in northern England, between the villages of Craster and Embleton.
The castle was built by Earl Thomas of Lancaster between 1313 and 1322, taking advantage of the site’s natural defences and the existing earthworks of an Iron Age fort.
In the 21st century, the castle remains owned by the National Trust and is managed by English Heritage.
The site is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and the ruins are protected under UK law as a Grade 1 listed building. Parts of the site comprise a Special Protection Area for the conservation of wild birds.
