Match report
MARDEN HIGH – 1 : 0 – MONKSEATON MIDDLE SCHOOL
The Year 8 Boys continued their impressive start to the season with their third win out of three, but were made to work hard for their win against a team that they brushed aside 5-0 in last year’s league encounter.
Theo Riley scored the only goal of the game midway through the first half when he coolly slotted home his fourth of the season after being put through by Louis Adams. Marden, missing some key players, should have made the game safe with Luke Monaghan hitting the crossbar and Connor Carson rattling the post with a thunderous effort on his first start for the U13s. However, a hard working Marden team held out for the win, ‘keeper Aidan McDonald making a smart save near the end to earn a second clean sheet in a row.
Josh du Plessis turned in a sterling man of the match performance at left back and the Year 8s have really set the pace at the top of their group, with an away game in the cup coming up against Valley Gardens on Thursday 18th October.
