It’s been a really successful BBC News Day, here’s some of the feedback from our fabulous Year 8 reporters:
“I have improved on my technical abilities, but I could improve it by managing my time better.” – Josh
“I have learned to work with different people who i don’t normally work with. To improve next time we will try to work quicker and work towards the deadline more prompt. but overall i had a great time working with laura and alicia!!! :)” – Kate
“I enjoyed working in my group and I developed new skills in Media and editing.” – Adam
“I have had lots of FUN!” – Nathan
“I think that I have have learned to improve my group work skills, also I have became more confident speaking-wise. But I do think we need to be more sensible so we don’t have to take as many shots.” – Theo
“We had the greatest time ever. We learned to work more independently since we had a small group and we all pulled fair weight.” – Ceren and Lara
“I have had lots of fun and I’ve learnt tips about journalism I’ve have also improved my team work. I have also given a lot to think about over the Christmas season. I’m looking forward till next time.” – Alex
“I have planned what I was going to do in the day, and I completed what I had to do successfully, and I enjoyed it as much, possibly more than last time. Next time I would make sure I didn’t leave things to the last part of the day, so I’m not rushing!” – David
Here are two of our reports from today’s News Day, one on the use of Twitter at Marden and our Sports reporters give us the lowdown on the fortunes of Newcastle and Sunderland, and the weekend’s Manchester derby.
All finished here at Marden, we are now watching over and evaluating our eight news reports, and we’ve made it onto the live school report feed for the third time. Well done everybody!
We’re all done and dusted here, with just rendering of projects required before we watch them back and upload them to our website. And we’ve been clocked once again on the BBC School Report Page!
Mrs. Bloomfield has just taken the weather reporters David, Alex and Chris down to the Boating Lake in Tynemouth, whilst the rest of the team are just finishing off their reports ahead of the 2pm deadline.
It’s lunchtime now but that hasn’t stopped our enthusiastic reporters. Ben’s group are interviewing Mrs. Glover about their Science report, whilst Adam has already bagged 8 interviews, including the headteacher Mr. Morris, for his group’s report about Takeover Day.
Mrs. Robson is delighted with the effort so far on news day:
“I’ve been really impressed with the tenacity and initiative shown by the Year 8 students, organising interviews with staff and students, evaluating the newsworthiness of stories and the vast improvement in their filming and editing skills.”
