Georgia from Wales High School in Rotherham has been in touch, here is what they’ve been doing so far today:
There are about 30 of us Y8 students and we are covering a range of stories. Have you heard about the High Speed Train? Will it affect you? One of our groups is creating a radio report about that.
Another girl is writing a whole newpaper article on her self about a recent single called ‘My Fight’. Others are writing about a local football/rugby arena being demolished and others are creating a TV report about our school dinners.
My group, however is creating a TV report on ‘How our School has Changed!’, you won’t be seeing me on camera though!!
Marden is acting as a Hub school, feeding information from other schools to the BBC vis our website. Ryburn School are currently working on their stories, here is what they’ve been getting up to:
We are full flow and our newsroom is very busy.
We are reporting today on:
1) School Events- including a visit from our Director of Children’s and Young People’s Services.
2) The new Orange Box Centre for young people.
3) What’s in our Food.
Our reporters are underway interviewing and getting footage for their news stories, which include:
1) The Young Americans recent Newcastle tour.
2) The recent budget.
3) Marden news – changing rooms in the school and Mindfulness…
4) A Science report on the Higgs Boson.
5) Sport – Six nations review and Callum McManaman’s horror challenge on Newcastle’s Massadio Haidara.

After several Practice News Days this year, our Year 8 team of reporters assembled this Thursday for the BBC News School Report Day proper.
