In an exciting night of extra curricular activity, the U12, U13 and U14 boys football teams were all in action on Wednesday evening, resulting in some excellent football being played, a lot of goals, and good performances all round.

Mr. Prytherch’s Year 8s were away to Thomas More, one of the strongest teams in their league. a team that had hit them for 6 last season, and they were unlucky to come away on the wrong end of a 5-3 defeat. Aaron Gordon, Dean Brown and Oli Symons got Marden’s goals in an impressive second half after going 4-0 down at half time. They have another tough fixture next week, away at Valley Gardens.

Mr. Ranson’s Year 9 team put their recent ESFA Cup First Round defeat behind them to defeat Burnside 6-4 at home, thanks to a first half hat-trick from Will Kelly, a debut goal for Harvey Laycock and a brace from Theo Riley. Marden were never behind during the game but were made to work right to the end and turned in a committed performance, Ollie Perkins ably deputising for the injured Aidan McDonald in goal.

Mr. Whitehouse’s Year 7s, well beaten by Valley Gardens last week, bounced back in some style in their first ever home match, trouncing Monkseaton Middle School 7-1, thanks to a Thomas Moore hat-trick. There were also goals from Shea Watt, Robbie Stephenson, Ollie Baker and an own goal in a clinical display which saw them try out a new look three at the back formation.

All in all, it was an entertaining night, and all the lads must take great credit for their attitude and commitment. Well done!
