Digital Kitchen Event
10 Students from the Polyglot (Many Languages) Club had the opportunity to attend a European language learning project called LanCook. They took part in a series of language learning exercises by following recipes and working in a digital kitchen. After having a test run in English, making scones, the students followed instructions in Italian to make ‘involtini alla contadina’, using kitchen equipment linked up with sensors. The digital kitchen functions in a similar way to the Nintendo Wii, giving instructions and monitoring progress. The best way to monitor progress in this case was in the tasting. You can find out more about Lancook on the university’s website.
