On Tuesday four Marden students competed in the Salters Festival of Chemistry. This was in the Chemistry School at the University of Newcastle. In the morning the students analysed salts to solve a murder mystery.
In the afternoon they worked with indicators, acids and alkalis and were given the challenge of investigating which volumes of each solution would make a rainbow of colours.
The students achieved 3rd prize in the Salters Challenge and won some Science equipment for the school.
The four students who took part all worked very well and were excellent ambassadors for the school.
