Thanks once again to everyone who attended our Awards Evening last week, in which we celebrated the achievements of last year’s Year 11 leavers, who recorded the BEST EVER GCSE results in the history of North Tyneside.


Well done also to our current Year 11s who performed at the ceremony, pictured below.

Sarah Donkin – Excellent prefect work. Helped out at parents evening and a lot of parents commented on how well she represented Marden.

RAY LYCETT CUP FOR ENDEAVOUR

Davika Kergon – For endeavour due to operations and achieving success despite this.

MARDEN HIGH SCHOOL MEDIA AWARD

Lyall Bentley- for demonstrating outstanding independence and determination during his GCSEs. This student completed both Media and Film Studies achieving A grades in both (with a B target). This student demonstrated great creativity in both analytical and technical skills, becoming a role model for his entire group – so much so that a popular song was written during Year 11 simply entitled ‘Lyall’.

THE ELEANOR DENNISON PERFORMING ARTS TROPHY

Georgia Crowther – The first student to ever achieve an A* GCSE Drama since the course began running in school.

NEWCASTLE COLLEGE AWARD FOR PERFORMANCE

Holly Pitches – For an outstanding final performance and monologue in Shakespeare.

THE RACHEL SMITH AWARD FOR MUSIC

MARDEN HIGH SCHOOL SPORTING ACHIEVEMENT

Ellen Gibson – excellent attitude throughout her time at Marden.  Gained her Young Sports Leadership Award.  Achieved county standard in netball as well as winning the North Tyneside Netball Championships as a member of the U16 school squad last year.

LIEUTENANT COLONEL GARETH COLLETT CUP FOR LEADERSHIP

Morgan Lee – Mentor for High Borrans Young Leaders. Involved with Sports Leaders. Ran for Young Mayor. An active member of the Youth Council and plays basketball for Newcastle Eagles.

NORTH TYNESIDE EBP AWARD FOR ENTERPRISE

Ross Butcher – Ross worked tirelessly in the Young Enterprise Group and was a key contributor to Business Studies lessons.   He always gave 100% and deserves to be successful throughout life with his positive can do attitude.

HAYES TOURISM AWARD

Amy Dunn

Amy worked well throughout year 11. She produced excellent portfolios at distinction level and always went that extra mile to do her very best. She was always an effective participant in the lessons and was a pleasure to teach.

The commitment that Ellen gave to her science studies was exemplary. She stuck in with all three subjects and excelled in all. Exceptional performance to achieve 5 levels of progress from the age of 11 in all three; Physcis and Chemistry as well as Biology.

ART AWARD

Highly commended:

Eloise Lee and Hayley Anderson who both produced work of an exceptional quality, and showed dedication in their approach.

William Ratcliffe

William is a talented artist who is particularly skilled in drawing and sculpture. He had a dedicated approach throughout the course: always meeting deadlines and producing work which was both  innovative and thoughful.

MFL AWARD

Jonathan Thompson Wood – Jonathan gained A* in 3 languages – French, German and Russian, achieving  maximum UMS points in both French and German.  This is a reflection of Jonathan’s hard work, commitment and determination in his language learning, given that Russian was an extra subject and all his lessons were after school.
