We extend our warmest congratulations to the 79 students who successfully achieved their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award at last night’s presentation evening. Their dedication, perseverance, and sustained commitment throughout the programme are truly commendable.
We were pleased to welcome so many families and supporters who joined us to recognise and celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of our young people.
We would also like to express our sincere thanks to Mr. Wallace, DofE Manager, and his dedicated team of support staff, who volunteer their time to deliver and facilitate this invaluable programme. Their guidance, encouragement, and commitment play a vital role in enabling our students to thrive and succeed.
Congratulations to all involved on this outstanding achievement.
We were delighted to welcome chemical engineers from CF Fertilisers, Billingham, for an interactive workshop with our Year 11s. In just an hour, students learned about real careers in chemical engineering – from apprenticeships to degree routes and even the path to becoming a CEO.
They tried on specialist safety gear and took on a hands-on design challenge: creating a system to transport tonnes of ammonia gas safely across a factory site.
A big thank-you to CF Fertilisers for inspiring our future engineers!

This week, members of our student cabinet met with David Matthews MBE to talk about The Listening Walk. David is walking to all the Samaritan branches in the UK and Ireland – for the second time! A total of 12,000 miles!
David warmly welcomed questions about his journey, his book, his reasons for the challenge and even how many pairs of shoes he would need! It truly was a fascinating experience and students learnt lots about the role of the Samaritans and human kindness. We wish David the very best of luck with his journey ahead!

Thanks to everyone who came to our Ceramic Christmas Tree Tea Light Workshop last night – some stunning efforts on show! Funds from attendance will go a long way to help pay for art department supplies!
We will let you know when they are dry and ready to pick up from their trip to the kiln!
Thank you to Emma from NWG (Northumbrian Water Group) for coming in to speak to our year 10 Science classes about her career and for bringing along some colleagues to talk about apprenticeships within Northumbrian Water.
