Four students spent the day at Kingston Park, home of the Newcastle Falcons, on Wednesday, taking part in a design task. Working with kit manufacturers Canterbury, their mission was to come up with a design that will eventually become Marden High School’s brand new rugby strip.
Jacob and Angus from Year 8, and Josh and Katie from Year 10 all took in a Falcons training session, as well as designing the kit which will be produced in the next few weeks.
Well done to our Year 7 student Elliot, who performed superbly in the Men’s London Gymnastics Open.
Elliot competed in Club Level 3 and amidst some stiff competition, finished 4th overall – winning Gold on the High bar, Silver on the Vault and Bronze on Rings and Pommel.

Huge congratulations are due to our Year 9 student Josh, who came second in the Junior Great North Run on Sunday in the Year 10 category.

We are delighted to announce that the fundraising efforts from Marden’s Parent-Teacher Association last year helped contribute £1,200 towards two new rowing machines for the PE department.
We are always looking for new members to join our PTA. Our first meeting of this academic year will take place on Monday 17th September at 6:30pm in the LRC. We look forward to seeing you there!
Year 10 student Hannah Searle has been selected to be part of the England North rowing squad in the 2018 School Games. The School Games is a national multi-sport event for the UK’s most talented school-age athletes. It will take place at Loughborough University from Thursday 30th August to Sunday 2nd September.

Two Marden students, Julie and Jennifer, have played matches for Beacon netball club all year, training at Marden Bridge Middle School.

Year 8 student Charlotte has been playing basketball for a few years now and last weekend represented the North East Under 13 girls at a national basketball tournament in Manchester. She is one of 10 girls to be chosen from across the North East to play.
Charlotte is a keen basketball player and is currently at trials to play for The Newcastle Eagles under 14 girls for September, which would be a fantastic achievement.

Congratulations to the U12 Rounders team who won the North Tyneside tournament. The team remained undefeated throughout the competition. Well done to all the players who took part.
Congratulations to Year 10 student Josh Harrison who recently travelled to Poland with Newcastle United Academy for an Under 16 football tournament.
The Academy boys won the tournament, which included both Polish and English teams, with Josh scoring four goals in the process.
Well done!
