The role

Due to the retirement of our current Business Manager, we are seeking to appoint their replacement. As the school’s leading support staff professional, you will be part of the Senior Leadership Team reporting directly to the Headteacher. You will be responsible for the financial strategy and business management of the school including the school estate.

Hours: 37 per week / 52 weeks per year (full-time).

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic financial management of the school, overseeing the finance team, cover provision, admin functions, and external contracts
  • Manage the whole school and departmental budgets, ensuring accurate financial reporting to SLT and governors
  • Ensure the best value for money by overseeing all external contracts
  • Support the school in achieving its vision of high-quality education by promoting excellent business practice and maximising resource efficiency
  • Act as Health & Safety Coordinator and Fire Officer.
  • Be part of the SLT ‘senior on-call’ rota for emergencies.

The ideal candidate:

  • Business Management Accreditation and Extensive experience in this area
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Financially astute with extensive experience managing budgets and contracts
  • A strategic thinker who can balance operational demands with long-term goals
  • Excellent organisational skills and an ability to prioritise
  • Calm under pressure, with an ability to provide solutions and adapt to changing

Marden High is an inclusive school and one where students achieve highly.  In the words of Ofsted “pupils thrive”.

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and very able Cover Supervisor to supervise classes in the short term absence of their usual teachers.  This person would also be required to register pupils’ attendance, invigilate tests and examinations, assist teachers and accompany staff and pupils on educational visits.
