On Wednesday a group of Y8 and Y9 girls attended an exciting event consisting of a day of workshops on technology and cybersecurity. The event was organised by Accenture and was held at the Centre For Life in Newcastle. The day consisted of a series of fun and engaging sessions delivered by females in the industry. This included speakers from Accenture, Enigma Interactive, MediaWorks and Newcastle College. Marden High School were the group winners for Challenge 2, the OrzoBot Challenge!

Yesterday, there were a mix of students from Year 8 and 9 receiving their bronze and silver cadet awards at the GirlsGetSet STEM graduation ceremony. They also found out the winner of their carbon footprint project where they were up against teams from North Durham Academy – and won! Two students also won the carbon capture poster competition and two were in the winning team for the oil challenge on the day. Well done and thanks to everyone involved!
Congratulations to our house champions for 2024/25, Bamburgh – their very first title! Mr Richards announced the winner in assembly this morning after they finished the year with a stunning 390,012 points, beating off stiff competition from last year’s champions Warkworth, and former winners Alnwick, who finished third.
The overall house points are now reset to 0 for the new academic year, although individual house points (which can be redeemed for rewards later in the summer term) are currently still valid.
Congratulations to Bamburgh, and may the 2025/26 competition begin!
A fruitful and engaging careers morning yesterday for Year 8 students. Thanks to all the employers who gave up their time to come in and talk to the students!
