Carpe Scriptum!
The Marden Writers’ Guild’s goal is for artistic freedom for the writers of the school, and they met again on Friday for an afternoon of passionate writing in the LRC.
They are planning to be the basis of the third volume of Marden’s online book (E-book), Manderley, in addition to other students in the school. It’s expected to be the best edition yet, with a modern, creative appearance and a vast spectrum of genres of work: novels, short-stories, journalism, academic essays, poetry and history.
So, what’s been happening this afternoon? Well, the Guild have been collating and writing works ready for Manderley which hopes to be completed by either Easter or the start of the Summer term. For example, Lara is writing two short-stories entitled ‘The War’ and ‘Wake up’; Year 10 student Izzy is typing-up her academic essay on ‘Of Mice and Men’; and Laurie is collating his works of poetry. In addition, David is taking another journalistic take on the day, Chris is also writing a short story, and likewise is Sol – called ‘The Man who Sold the World’. Furthermore, Ailsa is writing her poem entitled ‘The Window’; Olivia is planning ideas for a story; Amy is writing ‘Jenson’, a novel; and Michael is developing his novel, along with Mr Horn.
With Manderley soon approaching, could you submit some of your own writing to be included?
SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW OPEN as of 14th March.
Deadline: END OF EASTER HOLIDAYS.
And remember: Carpe Scriptum! (Latin for ‘Seize Writing’.)
