In July, our Year 7s will have the opportunity to spend a day studying flight for our fantastic Science Super Learning Day!
They will be looking at the adaptations of birds of prey, courtesy of staff from Kielder Birds of Prey Centre, and they will also spend the day building and testing rockets and helicopters.
Congratulations to Year 9 student Robert Gonsalez, who recently won the 2017 Clay Rabbit Shooting trophy at the BASC (British Association for Shooting and Conservation) Mitford Championship. Here he is posing with his trophy. Well done Robert!
Here at Marden we are massively proud of Year 9 student Josh Harrison, a talented footballer who has signed a two year contract with Newcastle United Academy.
Josh has been training with both Newcastle United and Sunderland in recent months and has recently played at St. Andrews (the home of Birmingham City), Elland Road (Leeds United) and the Stadium of Light (Sunderland).
Here he is pictured signing his contract with NUFC Academy Head of Recruitment Glenn Craggs. We wish him all the very best for what promises to be an exciting future ahead! Well done Josh.

A reminder to all staff and students that this Friday (26 May) is a non-uniform day to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Wristbands are being sold for £1 by Year 9 student Jenny Hurnell who is coordinating the event.
Last week our Golden Ticket reward scheme was a tremendous success. Teachers issued golden tickets to a student for each lesson they taught, if they had shown one of the 5 Rs: Resilience, Responsibility, Resourcefulness, Reasoning or Reflectiveness.
At the end of the week one student from each year group was selected in a filmed prize draw to win a certificate and a £5 gift voucher. The winners were announced in form this week.
