Thank you.
On Monday and Tuesday, Marden students enjoyed a variety of exciting activities. As well as trips to Lightwater Valley, there were quizzes, singing competitions, film screenings, sports activities, and as you can see from these pictures, Marden’s Great British Bake Off and a Year 7 and Year 8 trip to the Procter and Gamble offices!
A reminder that students will break up for the summer holidays this Friday at the earlier time of 1:30pm.
Thank you.
Please read this important letter, outlining our recent successes and our plans for the new school year in September.
Year 7 and Year 8 are visiting Lightwater Valley on Monday 17th July.
Year 9 and Year 10 are visiting Lightwater Valley on Tuesday 18th July.
Students must be in school by 7.40am and go directly to form classes where they will be met and registered. They will then be escorted to coaches outside ready for early departure. Coaches will arrive back at school at approximately 5.30pm.
Students do not need to wear uniform but must wear sensible clothing.
Thank you.
Congratulations to our Year 9s who have had two successive weekends of walking and last weekend successfully passed their Duke of Edinburgh Qualifying expedition! Here are some photos from their hike along Hadrian’s Wall.
Year 7 student Finlay McIntyre competed in the North-east Athletics Grand Prix on Wednesday night in the 200m category – he came first with a time of 26.8 earning him a Grade 1!
He is now the Number 1 200m runner for the North East in the Under 13 category which places him in the Top 12 in the entire country.
A great achievement for Marden PE and especially to Finlay, well done!
We have celebrated our Official Opening with a ceremony in the school, including performances by Drama and Music students, tours of the new building and our GCSE Art exhibition.
Mayor Norma Redfearn unveiled a plaque and said a few words along with headteacher Mr Snape, and our Head Boy Monty Douglass and Head Girl Nieve Allott. Former Marden alumni and presenter of Look North Carol Malia was also a guest speaker.
Many thanks to all who attended.
