It’s been rewards week here at Marden, with students choosing from a variety of activities to take part in after cashing in their hard earned merits. Here’s some footage of a kick boxing session ran by Burns School of Blackbelts.

On Tuesday the PE department took a group of students from years 7, 8 and 9 to Longsands beach where we competed in the North East Girls Beach Touch Rugby festival.
Marden had two teams entered into the U13 round and one U15 team. All girls thoroughly enjoyed the day. We had a range of wins, losses and draws! Looking forward to starting contact in September.
On Monday the PE department brought our Year 10 GCSE group to Newcastle Climbing Centre where they were assessed on their handling of ropes, ability to tie knots, their movement on the rock wall and their use of different holds.
The Year 10s will be going back on Friday for another 2 hour slot where they will be assessed further in order to gain more practical marks for their GCSE.
Congratulations to all our acts who took part in Marden’s Got Talent, and special congratulations to our winner Year 10 Georgia!
There was a variety of great acts, a dance group, some jazz musicians, a circus act, an excerpt of drama performance ‘We Will Rock You’ and even a debut performance by the staff band! All in all, more than £300 were raised for children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent.
Well done to all who took part!
