Non-Uniform Day This Friday

This Friday will be a non-uniform day to raise money for Disability North, and the school cabinet will be putting on events all week in order to raise as much money as possible.

The cabinet visited last year to see all of the hard work that the charity does for people with all types of disabilities. The events this week include:

Tuesday: Bake Sale
Wednesday: Table Tennis Tournament – staff and students
Thursday: Lunchtime Quiz – staff and students
Friday: Non-uniform Day (£1)
As usual with our non-uniform days, wrist bands will be on sale for £1 from the school cabinet.

Year 8 Football Success

The Year 8 boys football team pulled off an incredible victory on Wednesday night, winning 3-2 away to Valley Gardens.

After going into the lead through Josh Harrison, they were pegged back and 2-1 down by half time.

They rallied however, and Owen Kennedy grabbed an equaliser before Josh Harrison added his second, rounding the keeper to win it 3-2.

It was a tremendous achievement, having been heavily defeated 16-1 by Valley Gardens last season. Well done to the following boys:

The final time we light up this building, crowds of Year 8s and their parents gathered in the shadow of our new building to witness the lighting up of the East block of Marden High School, a culmination of their Science-themed Super Learning Day.

It’s been Christmas Jumper Day here at Marden, Marden staff and students raising loads of money with various fundraising efforts, including:

  • An LRC raffle
  • CHOP THE KNOT – Mr Ranson chopped off his hair during Yr11 assembly
  • Doughnuts and biscuit sales all week
  • Stationery and sweet packs sold
  • Hamper raffle
  • McAlpine builders generous collection
  • Wristband sales for non-uniform day
  • Staff room scones and cake sale
