Covid Testing Update

Many thanks to parents and students for your continuing support with COVID testing.
Please note the following:
  • Lateral Flow tests are for people who do not have symptoms of Coronavirus, anyone feeling unwell and displaying symptoms should arrange for a PCR test to be carried out and isolate while they await the result.
  • The result from a lateral flow test must be read after 30 minutes and the device disposed of. Results read after that time would be void and should be reported as such.

Year 7 Parents’ Evening

We have introduced a new and easy to use online Parents’ Evening booking system. This allows you to choose your own appointment times with teachers and you will receive an email confirming your appointments. The new system also allows us to provide video appointments.

Year 7 Parents Evening will be held on Thursday 1 July from 4.00pm until 6.30pm. This event will be held remotely via our new remote Parents’ Evening system.

Within this system you can put in the times you are available and who you would like to see and the system will create the appointments for you. 

As much as possible, please adhere to the protocol below: 

  • Where possible, use a neutral background.
  • Where possible, only Parents/Carers and the child for which the Parents’ Evening is intended should be in view. 
  • Where possible, keep background noise to a minimum.
  • Book appointments between the opening of appointments of 8.00am on Friday 25 June and close of appointments at midnight on Wednesday 30 June.

Community School Clothing Scheme

Thank you to everyone who was contributed to the Community School Clothing Scheme by donating old and unwanted uniform. We were overwhelmed with donations, as you can see!
The community school clothing scheme have a free service that everyone can use to request uniform for any school (if you need Marden uniform you just need to fill in a request form and the charity finds the uniform and contacts the requester to collect it).

It’s only been going for four years and they have just opened their 5th shop so they have plenty of stock!

Year 11 Charity Run

Year 10 Exams

As Mr Snape mentioned in his newsletter (28.05.21) there will the opportunity for Year 10 pupils to sit exams in most of their subjects. In line with our Covid risk assessment these exams will take place in classrooms during usual lesson time.

This is always good practice for important assessment in year 11, and the next few weeks will be a good opportunity for the students to learn, develop and practice effective methods of revision, which their teachers will have shown them during lessons.

Currently, the message from the Department for Education is that GCSE exams next summer will be back to normal, so it is important that students get a feel for the GCSE exams and to become familiar with exam rubric and regulations. Once exams are completed by the end of June, students will receive valuable feedback on how they have performed, as well as information on further revision strategies for next year.

To help support pupils’ preparation please find below an exam timetable and a ‘How to revise…’ document for each subject.
