We are delighted to announce that the fundraising efforts from Marden’s Parent-Teacher Association last year helped contribute £1,200 towards two new rowing machines for the PE department.
We are always looking for new members to join our PTA. Our first meeting of this academic year will take place on Monday 17th September at 6:30pm in the LRC. We look forward to seeing you there!
Year 10 student Hannah Searle has been selected to be part of the England North rowing squad in the 2018 School Games. The School Games is a national multi-sport event for the UK’s most talented school-age athletes. It will take place at Loughborough University from Thursday 30th August to Sunday 2nd September.

We look forward to welcoming back all our students on Tuesday 4th September. The new Year 7 students will have an assembly at 8.45am in the auditorium, whilst students in Years 8, 9, 10 and 11 will head to their form rooms.
Students at Marden High School have once again achieved excellent GCSE exam results, maintaining high standards as one of the top performing schools in North Tyneside. The results are a great testament to the hard work and commitment of our wonderful students and staff. While the exams this year have been designed to be more challenging, the expertise and commitment of staff and the hard work and focus of students at Marden has meant that our students have achieved some great results and we are immensely proud of them. It is also important to note that these results are not on the basis of a narrowed down curriculum, but reflect a full and broad range of subjects developing the strengths of each individual.
81% of students achieved 9 – 4 grades in English, 77% in Maths with 71% achieving English and Maths combined, placing Marden High amongst the top achieving schools in North Tyneside. These results follow the publication of The Real Schools Guide earlier this summer, which ranked Marden High as the best school in North Tyneside, taking into account a wide range of indicators including achievement, attendance, teaching, how well the school is preparing pupils for the future and whether it is improving.
We have seen many individual successes for students of all abilities, including a large number of the highest grade 9’s. The fact that our students have done so well is a great accolade to the efforts of our whole school community of students, staff, parents and carers, and governors. We are all very proud of our achievements, and we are looking forward to continuing to build on our strengths as we work to improve our children’s education even further.

Congratulations to both girls!
Year 8 student Charlotte has been playing basketball for a few years now and last weekend represented the North East Under 13 girls at a national basketball tournament in Manchester. She is one of 10 girls to be chosen from across the North East to play.
Charlotte is a keen basketball player and is currently at trials to play for The Newcastle Eagles under 14 girls for September, which would be a fantastic achievement.
