Prayer Space at Marden

This week we have been fortunate to have prayer spaces in the RE department. Prayer spaces is an opportunity for our students to explore their emotions and feelings, asking ‘big questions’, experiencing peace and stillness or thinking about self image.

There were a variety of activities set up, each one with a different focus. Our students prayers were collected on a ‘prayer wall’ and the amazing empathy, thoughtfulness and maturity once again shone through.

Whether students approached this with religious beliefs or as an atheist (or anywhere in between or beyond!) there is no doubt that this has been an valuable and memorable experience.

Simply log on to the Parent Portal and at the top-left of the screen, select ‘General’ and then ‘Personal Details’. Anything that is underlined in blue can be clicked, and you can enter new information in the window that pops up. This will then be sent through to us.

All The School’s A Stage…

The English department yesterday celebrated the 434th anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth with a range of exciting lessons. Students brought in cakes, biscuits, cards and birthday presents for the Bard, and there were numerous party-related activities celebrating England’s most famous writer and dramatist.

There was some great work on display. Here are some photographs of the day!

A select group of Year 7 students have been taking part in a lunchtime Spanish club all year with Mrs Peters and Mr Watson. The culmination of that this week was a trip to Tapas Revolution in Newcastle, where they put their language skills to the test, ordering in Spanish and trying some authentic Spanish tapas.
