Maintaining our strong links with the BBC, Year 9 and 10 students have been working with BBC journalist Judith Burns on an article about the 1944 Education Act. Look out for the report, including video and audio footage, in the near future.

This time lapse shows off all the hard work by the Year 8s during Monday’s Super Learning Day, as three teams of Artists, Scientists and Media gurus created their own stained glass windows out of paper and lit up the East Wing of the school for Marden Lumiere 2013. It was a festive and fitting way to end this term; Merry Christmas to everyone from Marden High School!

Year 8 have taken part in an ambitious and creative project, writing stories in the style of Arthur Conan Doyle. The English department produced a 2 minute murder mystery film in which they “killed off” head of department Mrs Brolly, revealing a list of teacher suspects and their sinister motives.
All Year 8 sets then had to come up with their own original stories, written in the style of a Sherlock Holmes investigation, in which they wrote about their theories as to who “bumped off Brolly”.
Students speculated for weeks before being shown the final reveal in an updated video. Everyone agreed it was an exciting and original module; the students really responded to the interactive approach from the members of staff and they produced some superb pieces of written work. On the last Wednesday of term the East block of Marden High School was turned into a spectacular light show as we revealed the fantastic work the Year 8 students produced on Super Learning Day last Friday.
Marden High School recently took part in an ambitious project in association with the Children’s Commission’s Takeover Day initiative. Staff and students switched roles, and students had an exclusive insight into how the school is run; joining staff meetings, delivering lessons and taking part in other integral school decisions.
