An exhibition of GCSE artwork by the recent Year 11 leavers has gone on display in St. George’s Church, Cullercoats, and parents and carers were invited to the opening event on Thursday night to view the work and enjoy some live music. The work will remain on display for the community to admire until this Sunday 7th July. Here is some of the excellent work produced:
Year 8 have taken part in an ambitious and creative project, writing stories in the style of Arthur Conan Doyle. The English department produced a 2 minute murder mystery film in which they “killed off” head of department Mrs Brolly, revealing a list of teacher suspects and their sinister motives.
All Year 8 sets then had to come up with their own original stories, written in the style of a Sherlock Holmes investigation, in which they wrote about their theories as to who “bumped off Brolly”.
Students speculated for weeks before being shown the final reveal in an updated video. Everyone agreed it was an exciting and original module; the students really responded to the interactive approach from the members of staff and they produced some superb pieces of written work. Watch the full video, including the students’ creative speculation, below…
Year 8s recently produced trailers for a modern day version of Hamlet, here is a great example of some of the creative work from Mrs Brolly’s top set class:
