We hope everyone has a safe and happy summer, where families can rest and relax. Over the summer, if you need further support, here are some links to support:
We are delighted to share with you this new Transition video, introducing our form tutors for the 2020/21 academic year:
If you are a parent/carer of a Year 7 student next year, you should receive a letter by the end of this week indicating which form class your child will be in next year.
The letter is posted below, and also outlines all transition resources available on our website (including more introductory videos like this one), details about our return to school in September 2020 in line with national guidelines, and contact details if you wish to get in touch with us. This has also been added to our Transition Welcome Pack on the specially dedicated section of our website, along with other letters and important information.
Please see below a letter from Arriva Travel. This scheme is a direct debit scheme which can be stopped or started at any time and can save families up to 25% per year against the cost of a standard ticket. The process is a simple one, simply follow the link on the letter and it contains all the relevant information to go ahead and sign up.

As an alternative to Sports Day this year, the PE department has created a menu of challenge activities for you to try.
Here is our ‘Love of Sport’ presentation. The programme is due to take place next week 6th – 10th July and we are inviting you to send in photographs and video clips of you taking part. Results are not important as it is all about having a go and enjoying the challenges at home!

We look forward to seeing your sporting attempts
Enjoy!

We have revamped the transition section of our website and to help ensure all Year 6 students are ready we have included lots of useful elements such as videos from staff, letters from the school and a new area called Be Awesome Go Big!
This is a nine session programme Year 6 students can enjoy as they prepare for September. Across the coming weeks we’ll highlight a specific session to focus on but the area is now ‘live’ so anyone can log in and take part.
More information will follow about exciting developments within the transition area which we’ll notify you on via the website and social media! For quick access, click the TRANSITION tab on our homepage to take you straight there. We will continue adding to this over the course of the summer term, so look out for all the exciting news and information to get you set for September!
We’re really impressed by all the entries so far for our special ‘At Home’ edition of our annual summer term talent show, Marden’s Got Talent! In fact, so many of you have asked for an extra few days to perfect your Marden’s Got Talent auditions that we’ve decided to extend the deadline to next Friday (12 June 2020).
We are very proud of the way our staff and our students – and their
families – have adapted to home learning. It is a very different way of
working to normal school lessons and students have had to learn to be very
resilient and resourceful in a short space of time.
Feedback from all those involved in the process of home learning has been
positive but not without challenge. For this reason we have evaluated and
reviewed the Marden approach and decided to pare back the number of
subjects per day to two. This will make learning simpler for students and
alleviate some of the feelings of being overwhelmed by multiple subjects to
complete every day. Emails with instructions and resources will still be
sent out by teachers in the morning.
At key stage 3, each subject will have one slot every two weeks, except the
core subjects which will have 3. In Year 10 option subjects will have 2
sessions over a two week cycle and the core will have 4. Each session will
be between 1.5 and 2 hours of learning. The only exceptions to this will
be Personal Development and Physical Education which will focus on mental
health and wellbeing with suggested activities to complete at any time.
These can be found in the daily form time slides.
To give students a chance to catch up on any subjects that may be taking a
little longer, there will be one free slot per week for catch-up or
extension work in any subject.
Students will still be receiving support and feedback from teachers, form
tutors and heads of year and, as we all become more familiar with the range
of technology available to us, we are beginning to make effective use of
Google Classroom, screencasts, demonstration videos and other online
resources to ensure that students have the most accessible and engaging
learning experience possible.
Full details of the revised timetable and daily form time activities can be
found below and will also be shared with pupils.
If students are unable to work online, and if year heads have been
informed, a paper pack of work will be sent out over half term. This will
contain similar activities to the online work being set.
Revised Timetables for Home Learning – effective from 01_06_20
