Boys Football Triple Header

14th March 2014J Ranson

Year 8: Marden 14-1 Norham

Year 9: Marden 1-2 John Spence

Year 11: Whitley Bay 0-3 Marden

Three boys football teams were in action on Thursday night, with Mr. Whitehouse’s Year 11s travelling to Whitley Bay and outplaying the host side, running out 3-0 victors with goals from Rory Spencer (2) and Mark Strasshine.

On home turf, Mr. Ranson’s Year 9s went toe to toe with rivals John Spence, conceding a dramatic late goal to go down 2-1, but they battled courageously with a skeleton thin squad of only the bare eleven players. Michael Mackenzie got Marden’s equalising goal, pouncing on a half cleared corner to drill home on his first appearance for two years.

The most eye-catching display of the evening though came from Mr. Prytherch’s Year 8s, making it two wins in two days with an emphatic cup victory against Norham on the smaller pitch. Goals from Aaron Gordon (2), Ben McDermott, Oli Symons (4), Lucas Sutherland, an own goal, Will Kerr, Dan McGee (3) and Dean Brown rounded off a 14-1 victory, with Norham grabbing a consolation header late on.

Well done to everyone involved for a great evening of sport, with superb team spirit and work ethic all round!

U13 Boys Football

Marden 4 – 1 Wellfield

20140312_163657 WS

Mr. Prytherch’s Year 8 football team secured a great victory against a decent Wellfield side with an excellent second half display in the sun on Wednesday evening.

On home turf, Dan McGee headed home the opener before the U13’s were pegged back before half time through a Wellfield equaliser. Marden took control in the second half though, with McGee’s parried shot converted on the rebound by Aaron Gordon before McGee then added a sublime third with a lobbed half volley from the edge of the box.

Aaron Gordon then rounded off the scoring with his second late on and Marden, who had several stand-out performers, ran out 4-1 winners in this league match. They are back in action again this Thursday with a cup match at home to Norham.

Well done boys!

U13 GIRLS KICK OFF LEAGUE CAMPAIGN IN STYLE

6th March 2014J Ranson

Monday evening saw Marden’s U13s squad travel to Morpeth for their first games of the Northumberland league season.

In the first match against NCEA, the girls gave a fantastic team performance in what became a one-sided game, running out 12-0 victors after four excellent goals from Amy Feetham, braces from Makenzie Leck, Kate Hedworth and Daisy Rowe, and a goal each for Cait Robinson and Jasmine Hacioglu.

In their closely contested second match, the girls took on Cramlington Learning Village. With the score tied at 0-0 at half time, CLV were visibly growing in confidence and our girls were growing frustrated at their failure to break the deadlock. After using the break to calm down and regroup, the girls quickly took a 2-0 lead in the second half with goals from Makenzie Leck and Amy Feetham. Nerves kicked in again when Cramlington pulled a goal back towards the end of the match, but a 3-1 victory was sealed with a brilliant solo effort from Daisy Rowe.

SQUAD: Libby Hall, Courtney Armstrong, Daisy Rowe, Rachel Foreman, Emily Pearson, Cait Robinson, Jasmine Hacioglu, Makenzie Leck, Amy Feetham, Kate Hedworth, Amelia Gates
