More success for the Sports teams at Marden, as the final league table for the U16 Boys Basketball league reveals our table topping success, following six wins out of six, and our U14 team have also won every game so far this year!  Well done!

The Year 8 boys football team were taught a tough footballing lesson away to Valley Gardens last night, on the full size 3g pitch, going down 7-0. It was a valiant effort though from the bare eleven players who turned up, Laurie Robson ably deputising in goal to keep the score down. Well done to all for the commitment on show, hopefully chances will come to avenge this defeat after the Christmas break.

On Monday night, thirteen Year 7s and ten Year 8s played in a Round Robin friendly match against Marden Bridge and John Spence at Marden Bridge.

The Year 8 team – won 3 games and drew 2

The year 7 team – won 2, drew 2 and lost 1 – excellent results as 3 of the teams were Year 8s.

Well done to all those who took part – great teamwork and commitment!

On Tuesday 19th November the North Tyneside Indoor Athletics Championships were held at Marden Bridge for the Year 7s and on the Wednesday 20th for the Year 8s.

The events were Standing Broad Jump, Standing Triple Jump, Standing Vertical Jump, Speed Bounce and Shot. On the track were 4×1 lap relay, 4×2 lap relay, 2 lap race, 4 lap race and 6 lap race.

Marden entered Boys and Girls teams in both of the Competitions and competed with great effort and determination.

Well done to all who took part.

On Thursday 14th, Marden took no less than 48 students to Churchill Playing Fields for an afternoon of Cross Country, with a range of boys and girls groups of all years competing to try and qualify for the North Tyneside heats at Temple Park, South Shields in January.

There were good performances all round, with Josiah Riley finishing highest of the Boys Inters with a 5th place finish out of 90 competitors; there were also strong runs from Sam Tupling in 10th, Mark Strasshine in 11th, Kieran Rudd in 14th and Mark Butcher finishing 15th.

The girls Inters also enjoyed success, with four Marden Year 10s finishing in the Top 12, the best place of the whole afternoon going to Amy Hedworth who came 3rd. Meanwhile, Leodhais Macpherson ran impressively for the Junior Boys, crossing the finish line in 4th place.

Well done to everyone who took part and good luck to those who qualified for the next heat.
