Year 7 & 8 Girls Football

Marden 1 – 3 Ponteland

Girls football half time team talk

Half time team talk as MHS trail 1-2

The Year 7 and 8 girls came unstuck in a tough encounter at home to Ponteland, eventually going down 3-1, despite holding their own for much of the first half. Makenzie Leck got Marden’s goal after an excellent assist from Carly Dixon from the wing.

Qualification from their group is still a possibility going into the last game, and all the girls can take credit for their performance, as their heads never dropped despite playing a good side with some quick strikers. Well done everyone!

Year 11s earn point in six goal thriller

25th October 2013Mr C Whitehouse

Boys Football Double Bill

Year 11: Marden 3 – 3 St. Thomas More

Year 8: Marden 1 – 6 Monkseaton Middle

For the second day in a row there was a double bill of boys football at Marden, as this time out the Year 8s and 11s were entertaining other schools. The 8s unfortunately went down 6-1 to Monkseaton Middle School, but the 11s earned a point against St. Thomas More in a superb game, Mark Atkinson volleying home the well deserved equaliser from a corner with the last kick of the game to make it 3-3. Rory Spencer and Dan Sharman were also on target for the U16s in a quality game.

Well done to everyone for another great night of extra curricular action to close this half term.

Boys Football Double Header

24th October 2013J Ranson

Year 7 – Marden 4 – 1 John Spence

The Year 7 boys made it two wins in a row with an impressive 4-1 victory at home to local rivals John Spence on Wednesday night. Tom Moore chipped in with two more goals to add to his hat-trick against Monkseaton Middle School a fortnight ago, with Robbie Stephenson and Jacob Sharman also getting on the scoresheet.

Year 9 – Marden 3 – 4 Seaton Burn

Meanwhile, on the big pitch, the U14s came were edged out by Seaton Burn in a league and cup double header, despite a spirited second half comeback after trailing 4-1. Will Kelly got his fourth in two games in the first half, whilst captain Thomas Stoetzel added a classy second and Harvey Laycock scored for the second game on the bounce to pull the home side right back into it, but the bare eleven players available could not get the equaliser they were pushing for.

Well done to both teams.

Year 10 Boys Football

22nd October 2013Mr S Topping

The Year 10 lads were unlucky to lose 4-2 at home to Churchill in the Cup, succumbing to the away team’s pressure in extra time.

It was a league and cup double header, so the U15s still pick up a league point for getting the 2-2 draw in 90 minutes.

Well done.
