This morning, Year 10 took part in mock job interviews. There was some great feedback, and some really well prepared students! Thank you to all North Tyneside Learning Trust employers who gave up their time.
An information guide for Year 10.
It’s National Careers Week! Please see this presentation for more information:
Recently, Marden students were entered into the Perse School programming competition. Two of our Year 11 students, Aidan and Jonah, have placed in the top 20% of all entries in the country at the advanced level in the first round.
After speaking with the organisers, they were genuinely impressed by this achievement—especially considering it was their first time entering the competition—and they extended their congratulations to both students.
In addition to their success, we had six other strong entries from our Year 10 and Year 11 students, who also performed very well and demonstrated great problem-solving skills and creativity throughout the competition.
This year the competition was divided into two levels, navigator (entry level to moderate) and pathfinder (advanced) and as it was the first year of the competition being run in this way, the problems were much more difficult than previous years. All students except one in Year 10 and 11 sat the pathfinder level of the competition and all did incredibly well considering the difficulty of the problem set.
Aidan and Jonah will be moving on to the second and final round after half term, joining forces with Benedict from Year 10 to compete as a three-man team.
Well done to all involved!
Voting is open for the North Tyneside Young Mayor elections, and we have 2 candidates in the final 4! Watch the candidates discuss their campaigns here:
And don’t forget, you can also vote for your choice for member of the UK Youth parliament!
Good luck Felix and Nell!

On Thursday, Year 10 students participated in a further education lecture presentation by Jesus College, Cambridge.
On 13th November, our Year 10 GCSE Computer Science and BTEC Digital Information Technology students took part in BIMA Digital Day.

This is an exciting and innovative event working in collaboration with a global organisation called Hedgehog Lab.
The only digital initiative of its kind, Digital:Day sees digital professionals head back to school for a day to inspire students and give them insight into a world of digital careers. Not only that, the day is dedicated to a nationwide competition where our students complete one of three sponsored challenges and be in with the chance to be crowned Digital:Day champions – winning £500 cash for their school plus a host of great prizes. The challenges this year are sponsored by Microsoft, RSPCA and Burberry.
