Thanks to everyone who joined in with the Easter bonnet making and had fun at our PTA Easter quiz!
Almost £600 has been raised for today’s ‘Wear a Hat’ day, to support Brain Tumour Research, with some money still to be counted.
Well done to everyone for their contributions and for all the creative headgear on show!
Last Monday students around the school were introduced to the beauty of pi (π) as part of Pi Day celebrations. The 14th March is dedicated to Pi, as it is the 3rd month and the 14th day – 3.14 being the start of the number of Pi.
Students were shown some of the artwork that has been inspired by the number and examples of text written in Pilish; a literary form based on the digits of Pi.
The students themselves have been challenged to create something inspired by the number, which is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. So far entries have included some geometric artwork and a tasty looking fruit pie.
Our Year 7 netball team put on an impressive display to be crowned North Tyneside champions this week, winning an incredible 8 and drawing 1 of their 9 matches as they swept to victory.
Well done to the team who go through to represent the county at the next stage!
This montage shows some photos and footage of how this year’s cohort of students have settled in to Year 7 at Marden High:
To celebrate Valentine’s Day, Year 7 French students wrote love letters and idioms, and they now adorn the “Love Wall” in MFL4! Bien joué!
Yr 7 enjoyed making silver yesterday by reacting silver nitrate and copper. They were learning about displacement reactions. Some really interesting work!
Year 7 used Bunsen burners to experiment with the chemistry of the colours in fireworks.
On Wednesday this week, students from Marden High School represented North Tyneside county in the Cross Country Championships at Temple Park in South Shields. Congratulations to Year 7 student Jack, who won his age group category – CLICK HERE to see Jack cross the finish line!

Jack and Lewis (Yr7) both celebrate their qualification!
Year 7 student Lewis also qualified, and there were successes in the other year groups too, with Year 8 student Oscar qualifying in the Year 8 & 9 category, and Year 11 student Katie will also go through to the Inter-County Championships.
There was also success from former Marden students, with Whitley High’s Josh Blevins winning in the Boys Year 12 category, and Holly Waugh coming fourth for the girls at the same age group.
Congratulations, and well done to all who took part!
