Mrs Russell’s Year 7 science class have been investigating the reactivity of metals. Today we were investigating the reactions of metals and acids. These pictures show students testing Hydrogen (the squeaky pop test).

This term, budding Enterprise students in both Year 7 and Year 10 have worked very hard creating products to sell for a ‘Valentines Pop Up Market’.
They worked in small teams to create, advertise and then sell the products. Each team was given £10 to buy in products and raw materials. The aim was to generate as much profit as they can, with the winning team getting Amazon vouchers as a prize.
There were 7 teams overall and a grand total of £211 profit! A team from Year 7 claimed the winners prize, making £68 profit. Well done to Elsie, Charlotte, Amelie, Jessie, Lucy & Matilda!
A Valentine’s hamper was won in a raffle by Year 8 student Joel.

Last term, Year 7 worked on Gothic Stories in English, and the best ones have been collated into a digital booklet. Linked with Art, there was a competition to design a cover for the book, and here are some of the finalists:

Here at Marden, we are very proud of Year 7 Thomas, who is a member of North Sea Volunteer Lifeguards and last week achieved his silver Rookie awards along with a Platinum Jubilee medallion award.
