Next week, on Wednesday 12th January, the immunisation team will visit school to administer second doses of the Covid-19 vaccine to 12-15 year-olds. A consent form and letter is being sent to all parents and carers, and is attached below for information. Please also read the attached information and Frequently Asked Questions document.
As we are unable to host our annual Christmas address from St. George’s Church, we instead share with you this recorded Christmas message. Happy Christmas to everyone.
Mary Ann Macham was an escaped slave who found her way from Virginia, USA and arrived in North Shields on Christmas Day 1831. The North Shields Heritology Project set 11 pupils in Year 9 an incredible challenge. They researched and edited a script which they then narrated telling Mary Ann’s epic story.
Students produced a 5 minute stop motion animation film which includes music and sound effects- everything being done on their iPads. Working in four teams, they had only 8 hours to complete the task – each team creating a chapter of Mary Ann’s incredible story. Most of the pupils had no previous experience of working with stop motion animation. We are really proud of the hard work and effort they put in to produce this piece of work as part of #HistoricHighStreets.

Dear Parent/Carer
To provide our Y8 and Y9 students with the opportunity to have face to face time with staff at school, before the end of term, we would like to invite in Y8 on Tuesday 14th December from 1:15pm to 3:15pm and Y9 on Wednesday 15th December from 1:15pm to 3:15pm.
The format of the afternoon, for both years, will include an assembly, form time activities and check ins on remote learning with form tutors and support staff.
Students should arrive at the East Yard gate at 1:10pm ready for the 1:15pm start in the Cafe. They will be leaving Marden High at 3:15pm via the same exit.

HPV School Based Vaccination Programme for Years 8 and 9 on Thursday 10 February 2022
The HPV vaccination programme in the UK consists of 2 doses of the vaccine, which is started before the child’s 15th birthday. All children will be offered their first dose in Year 8 and a second dose in Year 9.
As you will be aware, this programme was cancelled last year due to the pandemic, so we will be offering first dose to both boys and girls in Year 8 and Year 9.
