You still have until Wednesday to sign up for Marden’s Got Talent 2018! Auditions begin after half term.
Visitors from Wave Utilities UK, a water and wastewater retailer, have been in school today to deliver a Super Learning Day to Year 9 students.
This week we have been fortunate to have prayer spaces in the RE department. Prayer spaces is an opportunity for our students to explore their emotions and feelings, asking ‘big questions’, experiencing peace and stillness or thinking about self image.
There were a variety of activities set up, each one with a different focus. Our students prayers were collected on a ‘prayer wall’ and the amazing empathy, thoughtfulness and maturity once again shone through.
Whether students approached this with religious beliefs or as an atheist (or anywhere in between or beyond!) there is no doubt that this has been an valuable and memorable experience.
After the snow interrupted our original plan for World Book Day, it took place a week later, and there were plenty of activities on offer for Year 7.
As well as dressing up as literary characters for the day, there were creative writing workshops, a lunchtime quiz and prizes for the most effective participants and the most creative thinkers.
£123.14 was raised throughout the day and will be donated to Book Aid.

Well done to everyone, on stage and behind the scenes, who were involved with our two productions of ‘Grease’ this week. Our students once again proved what a talented bunch they are with a stunning and dramatic musical performance. Thanks to all who attended! Here are a selection of photographs from both evenings.

Bringing the curtain down on five years at Marden, last night we celebrated with our Year 11 leavers’ awards evening.
We enjoyed a great atmosphere and Maurice Duffy, our guest speaker, left us with some truly memorable ideas from his keynote speech.

Some of our Year 9 students were invited to a tree planting ceremony on Wednesday 22 November, to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Marden Quarry being opened to the public as a wildlife reserve.
Oscar, Evie, Nicole and Jack all helped our Mayor, Norma Redfearn, with the planting which will ensure sustainability into the future.
Great to see our students involved in looking after the local community.
Well done to those Cabinet members who braved the rain and took part.
GCSE Computer Science students from Year 10 and a select few Year 9 students took part in a Bima Digital Day on the 14th November. Here are a few photos of the event, in which the students had to plan and pitch an innovative new digital design with a STEM theme.
