On Monday and Tuesday, Marden students enjoyed a variety of exciting activities. As well as trips to Lightwater Valley, there were quizzes, singing competitions, film screenings, sports activities, and as you can see from these pictures, Marden’s Great British Bake Off and a Year 7 and Year 8 trip to the Procter and Gamble offices!

It has been another Super Learning Day here at Marden today, with Year 8 this time enjoying an Engineering themed day learning about electronic cars and making their own.
Our annual summer talent show, Marden’s Got Talent, took place last night, with some fantastic and varied acts on show, all raising money for Clic Sargent, a children’s cancer charity.
It was a great evening of entertainment, with Year 7 Liv Surrey voted the winner by judges for her magic act. Second place went to Olivia Peterson who performed a stunning version of ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ by Oasis, and 3rd place went to the Marden Ukulele Club, who sang and performed Elvis Presley’s ‘I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You’.

As part of a Science Super Learning Day, we we were visited on Tuesday morning by staff from Kielder Birds of Prey centre who taught Year 7 about different types of birds of prey.
In the afternoon they built rockets and helicopters which they tested, and learnt more about flight.
On Saturday and Sunday seven Year 9 students training for their Duke of Edinburgh award camped in Broomley Grange near Stocksfield and demonstrated excellent map reading skills and teamwork on two tough days of walking. It was a great weekend and gives them superb preparation for their qualifying expedition at Hadrian’s Wall this weekend. Good luck! Here are some pictures of their adventures.
