With the second BBC News Day coming this Wednesday 12th, Marden has already been making the news, with a photo of our last news day chosen as the main image on the BBC’s article of the upcoming event. We have raised £923.23 for the Bobby Robson Foundation and Breakthrough Breast Cancer as part of former Newcastle United footballer Robbie Elliott’s Bike for Bobby campaign. Year 11 student Callum, who came up with the idea to get involved with the charity, presented the cheque to Robbie, who came in to give an assembly and thank the school for their fundraising efforts.

Last week’s Takeover Week was a huge success, with Friday especially being a major focus as students swapped roles with teachers – Year 11 Harry Smith was headteacher for the day and students from all years lead PSCHE lessons on Tuesday afternoon as the teachers took a back seat.
They were also heavily involved in looking at the school budget, school dinners, extra curricular activities and sat in on the Friday staff breakfast meeting.
Stay posted for some video footage of the week, and see how the event might change how we do things at Marden now that the students have had a chance to have their say…

Friday is our non-uniform day for Children in Need. Students are invited to wear suitable pyjamas or a onesie and bring their teddy bears! If parents and carers would like their sons or daughters to participate, a £1 donation is required. Wristbands on sale from tomorrow.
NUFC’s Robbie Elliott will also be in school on Friday to draw our fund raising raffle: tickets on sale for £1 Tues/Wed/Thurs.
Prizes include shopping vouchers and family days out- all proceeds will go to Bike for Bobby.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
We at Marden High School are proud to announce that year 10 student, Isaac Sidney, has been elected as Young Mayor of North Tyneside.
When it’s going well, teaching is the best job in the world.
There’s something very special about what happens between a teacher and a class when the relationship is right and they are united by the excitement of learning. And I must admit that I miss that special chemistry when I look back on my many years as an English teacher.
But (and I feel guilty about this) I don’t miss the marking.
