Yesterday, eleven Year 9 students visited the Newcastle University Medical and Dentistry (M.A.D.) school to learn more about what it was like to study either medicine or dentistry at this university.
They experienced a variety of activities from lectures to practical sessions. They gave it their all with CPR, intubating Simon the SIMman, reassembling a pile of human bones and painting on specific facial muscles in the medical practicals.
They also looked at animal dentition, carving a replacement tooth and using disclosure tablets in dentistry. Well done to all students involved!
Nine Year 8 students were chosen as Anne Frank Trust Ambassadors and have been working with representatives from the trust to produce a film linked to gender discrimination.
The film will be included in future assemblies and PD lessons to be designed and delivered by the ambassadors themselves.
The effort, attitudes and creativity demonstrated by all students involved have been commended highly by staff from the Anne Frank trust who described students as ‘a pleasure to work with.’ We look forward to seeing the video, assemblies and PD lessons soon!

Our Anne Frank Trust Ambassadors
Our dancers performed at the area dance festival at The Parks last Tuesday evening. The theme was Stage and Screen. We had two groups performing on the night. Our Y7 group were performing for the first time and our senior girls performed a separate dance at the event. It was a superb occasion where all the girls proved to be excellent ambassadors for the school. Well done to all who were involved!
