After an extensive campaign, our candidates for Head Girl and Head Boy for the next academic year have been chosen, and we are delighted to announce Kate Edwardson and Joel Campbell to the roles.
As the standard of application was so strong, they will be supported by the fellow nominees as part of a senior prefect team. Here is their pledge:

“As Head Boy and Head Girl, alongside the Senior prefects, we aim to focus on emphasising the student voice within choices concerning the school and creating a fair and equal platform in which all students are valued.
Thanks,
Kate and Joel”
On Monday, Year 9 RE students visited Samye Ling, a Tibetan Monastery in Scotland, to learn more about Buddhism.
Samye Ling is a monastery and international centre of Buddhist training, known for the authenticity of its teachings and tradition. It offers instruction in Buddhist philosophy and meditation within the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. It is also a centre for the preservation of Tibetan religion, culture, medicine, art, architecture and handicrafts.
The students toured the grounds, visited the temple, practiced some meditation and sat in on traditional chanting by Buddhist monks.
Congratulations to Year 10 student Josh Harrison who recently travelled to Poland with Newcastle United Academy for an Under 16 football tournament.
The Academy boys won the tournament, which included both Polish and English teams, with Josh scoring four goals in the process.
Well done!

On Wednesday we held a short memorial service for Ms Zinovyeva, a former cover supervisor and Russian teacher who spent 16 years at Marden, and who sadly passed away earlier this year. A plaque in our memorial garden was unveiled, and Fr. Adrian Hughes spoke to a small congregation of close friends, and those who worked with her.
