On Every Desk A Book

From Monday the 1st of July all year 8 students moving into year 9 will be required to bring a reading book to school with them everyday.

It is our aim that all students should have the chance to read for at least 20 minutes per day and reading for pleasure should be encouraged at every opportunity.

This means that a reading book is a vital piece of equipment and should be placed on desks along with their handbook and writing material at the start of every lesson.

We know that students who read are students who succeed and instilling a lifelong love of literacy is important to us all.

Students are also permitted to read ebooks on portable and handheld devices as per our acceptable use policy.

Lunchtime detentions

Dear Parent/Carer

I am writing to inform you that as from 8th January 2013 we will be introducing a lunchtime detention system for students arriving late to school.

Students will be given a slip when arriving to school and they should report to Technology 1 at 12.10pm.  The detention will last 30 minutes until 12.40pm.  If they do not currently bring a packed lunch to school, they will need to order a sandwich or grab bag at break time.

It is very important that students arrive on time to school as missing the first 5 minutes of a lesson can be extremely detrimental to their learning and progress.
