Thursday 6th March is World Book Day, and as part of OXFAM’s Message in a Book Appeal we are asking all students to bring an unwanted book to school next week to donate.
OFSTED has officially confirmed the remarkable improvement of Marden High School.
Only two years ago the government watchdog judged Marden to be satisfactory. Now, however, as well as achieving the highest ever 5A*-C GCSE results in North Tyneside in 2013, the school has been rated as good with outstanding features, with leadership and behaviour being awarded the best possible grades.
The inspection report gives high praise to what Marden has achieved, stating:
“Good and often outstanding teaching ensures that students from all starting points make rapid progress and achieve well…. The most able students achieve highly, with attainment at A* to A grade significantly above the national average.”
Headteacher Jonathan Morris, is justifiably proud of this success:
“If you read the report, you can tell that the inspectors were amazed by the surge in standards at Marden. They also said that the school is well placed to improve even further!”
Thanks once again to everyone who attended our Awards Evening last week, in which we celebrated the achievements of last year’s Year 11 leavers, who recorded the BEST EVER GCSE results in the history of North Tyneside.
