Carpe Scriptum!
The Marden Writers’ Guild’s goal is for artistic freedom for the writers of the school, and they met again on Friday for an afternoon of passionate writing in the LRC.
They are planning to be the basis of the third volume of Marden’s online book (E-book), Manderley, in addition to other students in the school. It’s expected to be the best edition yet, with a modern, creative appearance and a vast spectrum of genres of work: novels, short-stories, journalism, academic essays, poetry and history. (more…)
Today has been World Book Day, and as well as donating unwanted books to Oxfam, staff and students have been sharing photos of their bookshelves on Twitter. Have you shared your #shelfie with @mardenenglish?
Thursday 6th March is World Book Day, and as part of OXFAM’s Message in a Book Appeal we are asking all students to bring an unwanted book to school next week to donate.
As Year 11 Isaac Sidney steps down after a year as Young Mayor of North Tyneside, Year 9 student Rebecca Moore has the opportunity to take over and make it a second consecutive Young Mayor from Marden High School. She is down to the last four candidates for the position, so make sure you vote for Rebecca when the polls open between the 18th and 20th of November. Here is her campaign video:

From Monday the 1st of July all year 8 students moving into year 9 will be required to bring a reading book to school with them everyday.
It is our aim that all students should have the chance to read for at least 20 minutes per day and reading for pleasure should be encouraged at every opportunity.
This means that a reading book is a vital piece of equipment and should be placed on desks along with their handbook and writing material at the start of every lesson.
We know that students who read are students who succeed and instilling a lifelong love of literacy is important to us all.
Students are also permitted to read ebooks on portable and handheld devices as per our acceptable use policy.
Please see the LRC section of the website for new releases, borrowing procedures and opening times.
Thank you
See if you agree.
