There are many exciting reports being prepared about next week’s Takeover Day:
How do the staff feel about wearing school uniform?
What would the students pick if they could choose the lunchtime menus?
Should the students run lunchtime sporting activities?
Our Year 8s have gathered some excellent interviews and are now uploading their footage and starting to edit their reports about Takeover Week.
BBC School Report is up and running, Marden Year 8 students are today focusing on next week’s Takeover Week, when students get the opportunity to decide what goes on in and around the school. One group has already interviewed Mr. Morris about the exciting new plans for the LRC, and the other groups are now out and about gathering footage for their reports.
Marden Year 8 students will be making the news for real on 21 March 2013 as they take part in the BBC News School Report Day. We aim to publish the news by 1600 GMT on News Day, so please save this page as a favourite and return to it later.

Mrs. Williams brought two of her Year 10 Science classes into the Media Studio this term, to edit their clay animations on antigens and defending against disease. Here are the winning animations from both groups.

VALLEY GARDENS – 3 : 1 – MARDEN
The Year 8 boys lost their unbeaten record and were knocked out of the cup at the first attempt on Wednesday night after a tough game away to last year’s cup runners-up Valley Gardens.
Due to waterlogged grass, the game was played on a senior sized 3G pitch and Marden never really adapted to the conditions, losing the midfield battle and going 2-0 down by half time. There was a spirited second half fightback, with Theo Riley hitting the post before pulling one back from an indirect free-kick, then lively substitute Josh Urwin could have equalised when his shot from point blank range was cleared off the line.

MARDEN HIGH – 1 : 0 – MONKSEATON MIDDLE SCHOOL
The Year 8 Boys continued their impressive start to the season with their third win out of three, but were made to work hard for their win against a team that they brushed aside 5-0 in last year’s league encounter.
Theo Riley scored the only goal of the game midway through the first half when he coolly slotted home his fourth of the season after being put through by Louis Adams. Marden, missing some key players, should have made the game safe with Luke Monaghan hitting the crossbar and Connor Carson rattling the post with a thunderous effort on his first start for the U13s. The PE department at Marden has received a generous donation of £500 from the Northumberland Park branch of Sainsbury’s. Here staff from the branch pose with PE teacher Miss Allison and students who will benefit from the grant. The money is to be split between the Boys and Girls departments and spent on new kit for extra-curricular teams, complete with Sainsbury’s sponsor.
Last week Mr. Morris was visited by seven headteachers from China, as Marden extended our global links.
