After a recent non-uniform day, Marden High has received grateful thanks from the Rainbow Centre in Sri Lanka following our fundraising efforts.
There was a great turnout for the Sport relief mile at lunchtime organised by Mr. Bunting. So far, more than £875 has been raised by staff and students throughout the day, with proceeds split between Sport Relief and M10.
Today has been World Book Day, and as well as donating unwanted books to Oxfam, staff and students have been sharing photos of their bookshelves on Twitter. Have you shared your #shelfie with @mardenenglish?
Key Stage 3 students enjoyed an entertaining talk this morning from Dr. John Kilcoyne of Sunderland University, in which he demonstrated a variety of fun Science experiments.
For the third year running, Marden High School took part in Takeover Day, run by the Children’s Commission. Once again, and based on the success of last year’s experiment, we turned this into Takeover Week, as students took over all aspects of the school and got their point across in staff meetings, as well as delivering lessons, working on reception and working in the school kitchen. Watch the video below to see how they got on…

The results of the recent North Tyneside Cross Country tournament at Churchill Playing Fields have revealed that Marden have not one but two winning teams!
Both the Boys and Girls Intermediate teams won their team events following strong runs from our Year 10s and Year 11s – and the best placed of those students will go through to represent the school at County level at Temple Park in South Shields in January. Well done to all the runners!
During an assembly, Year 11 held up a message for HMS Illustrious, currently delivering aid to the people of the Philippines over the Christmas period, and David Lowery has sent us a letter of thanks back (read below), also outlining some of the important work that they have been doing out there…
Thanks once again to everyone who attended our Awards Evening last week, in which we celebrated the achievements of last year’s Year 11 leavers, who recorded the BEST EVER GCSE results in the history of North Tyneside.
