Marden’s Year 10 Drama students are taking part in an exciting event in early June, the upcoming Electic Iron Festival in Cullercoats.
Students will kick off the weekend event on Thursday 4th June at Cullercoats Crescent Club, performing ‘Fracking in Cullercoats’, a play they have been working on with local writer Peter Mortimer.
Tickets for this event are £6 and available from our finance office, please pay by either cash or cheque. Be sure to look out for other events taking place on Cullercoats Sea Front between Thursday 4th and Sunday 7th June.
I can now confirm that I am moving on to another headship at the end of the summer term.
With effect from September 1, 2015 I will take up the post of executive principal at Thorp Academy in Gateshead.
May I take this opportunity to thank everyone who is part of the Marden High School family for their support and encouragement over the past four years. With such brilliant staff, students and community support, as well as the imminent construction of a brand new school, I am certain that Marden will thrive and will continue to secure its place as one of the best schools in the north east.

Marden students have recently been working with students from Excelsior Academy on a BBC Radio 3 report about asylum and ‘A Sense of Home’. Listen to their report by CLICKING THIS LINK. Well done to our intrepid school reporters!
During first lesson this morning, Marden was plunged into semi-darkness as we witnessed the first solar eclipse in our region since 1999. It became notably darker and colder, as we set up a live web feed to cover the eclipse. Here’s some time lapse footage of the moon passing in front of the sun.
